The paper presents the results obtained during 1984-1986 in 6 perennial grasses in pure cultures or mixed with Trifolium repens Ladino-Crau 3 kg/ha under irrigation on a reddish brown soil in Moara Domneasca, in the Plain of Vlasia. All variants were fertilized with 50 kg/ha P2O5 in autumn and 50 kg/ha nitrogen in spring and after each mowing. The most productive species were Festuca arundinacea - Pandur (9,41 t/ha D.M. in pure culture, and 10,22 t/ha when mixed with white clover), Bromus inermis - Orfeu (9,23 t/ha D.M. and 10,15 t/ha D.M., respectively), Dactylis glomerata - Poiana - (10,26 t/ha D.M. when mixed with white clover) and Poa pratensis - Transilvania (10,68 t/ha D.M. in mixture with white clover). The first three species are recommended for mixtures with white clover for dual purpose use, and the last one for pastures. The above species and cultivars when mixed with white clover, produced on average 1,700 - 2,300 kg/ha crude protein. Their crude cellulose content was less than 26 %, and had a normal P, Ca, K content; however, the Ca : P ratio was deficient (less than 2)
