Seven varieties of cotton, Srisumrong No.2, Srisumrong No.3, Takfa No.1, CR-138 VWR, Auburn RNR-623, Deltapine smooth leave and native Noi were tested for reactions against the nematode Rotylenchulus in the greenhouse. Host resistance was based on the number of L2 in 500 gm. of soil and females in 1 gm. of roots. The native variety Noi (Gossypium aboveum) was identified as resistant to the nematode. The rest (Gossypium hirsutum) was susceptible. Female development and egg production reflected host resistance. Healthy females and large egg masses was observed on susceptible plants, and degenerated females and small egg masses occurred on resistant plants.
