In the course of vegetative periods of field crops, the amounts of ammonium and nitrate nitrogen in the soil were approximately equal. Therefore, it could be concluded that processes of mineralization of organic and nitrification of ammonium nitrogen were carried out freely. The portion of mineral nitrogen in the soil was in correlation with the development of the crops. The highest content of mineralizing nitrogen was found in the soil layer 0-20 cm under sunflower and in the layer 20-40 cm under wheat. Lower content of mineralizing nitrogen was found in both investigated soil layers under maize and in the first investigated layer under sugarbeet. The highest coefficients of nitrogen gain were found in the second investigated layer under soybean, in the first investigated layer under sunflower and the lowest in the first layer under wheat and sugarbeet and in the second under maize.
