The obtained results of a study of 5 pear varieties and a wild pear (Pyrus communis L.), show that the leaves of the cultivated varieties contain astringent elements, i.e. tannins which belong to a group of condensed (catechins) tannins. The amount of tannins varies in some of the varieties depending on the stage of growth and development. The N, P, and K content in leaves of the wield growing pears and some cultivars has a tendency towards decreasing during the vegetation period.
