In the Mediterranean part of Croatia, the Dalmation black pine -Pinus nigra subsp. dalmatica is forming a large number of forest communities. Two independent associations have been described and studied till now, while the Dalmation black pine forests have been developed as different sub-associations and facies of some other associations known earlier.
