Canopy structure, dry matter distribution pattern and seed yield of six mungbean genotypes were compared. Genotypes differ significantly in respect of plant height and seed yield. High yields were associated with higher number of pods/plant and seed size. High yielding genotypes had higher proportion of leaf mass in the upper 40-70 cm strata while the low yielders display much of the leaves in the lower 0-40 cm layers. There was little variation in the relative contribution of various components towards total dry matter (TDM). Both TDM and yield were various components towards total dry matter (TDM). Both TDM and yield were correlated with the amount of leaf mass in the upper 40-70 cm strata of the canopy.
