Dry matter production in relation to yield structure of rapeseed, Brassica campestris L.
1989
Hamid, A. | Ali, K.L.
Eight varieties of rapeseed (Brassica campestris L.) were grown to compare the dry matter production and its partitioning into components in relation to seed yield. Seed yield varied from 733 to 1,387 kg/ha among the varieties. Varieties differed a little in number of pods per plant and seeds per pod and hence the seed yield variation was mostly due to variation in seed size. Varietal difference in biological yield or its distribution into components were significant. Greater variation in dry matter allocated in main stem was observed among the varieties. Varieties did not differ in harvest index which was generally low (32%).
