Investigation of feed lines, production, handling, storage, preparation and administration enjoys a priority in livestock production because the costs of feeds represent more than 60 per cent of the prime costs. The lines are complicated equipments and their types vary; this, combined with the differences in the effectiveness of the use of different machines and variability of the materials processed, makes it impossible to evaluate and determine the best technico-economic parameters by traditional mathematical and statistical methods. The only realistic possibility of an overall evaluation of the feeding lines is computer processing and evaluation of data provided from an extensive information base, comprising a large quantity of coefficients that characterize the line under study and the conditions of its exploitation under actual conditions. In this sense, the newly developed system of computer data processing allows to evaluate up to 30 variants and methods of performing a more or less unlimited series of successive operations, characterized by 46 parameters. Thirty different variants of feeds and their mixtures with 10 evaluated parameters can be fed into the system. Further variants can then be added to the mentioned possibilities as the data base is updated.
