Laying hens S-288 from the onset of laying to 502 days of age were fed the diet (NV-RM) containing 156 N-substances and 11.5 MJ ME/kg. In the control group (I) the diet was supplemented with 0.3 g DL-methionine per kg of feed, in the experimental groups (II and III) were the supplements reduced by 50 and 100 per cent, respectively, and replaced with 0.66 g choline-chloride and 1.0 g sodium sulphate per kg of feed. The daily intake of amino acids in the group III was reduced by 8 per cent and was equivalent to the prescribed need within the safety limit of 10 - 15 per cent. Data on laying performance were not different, only weight of eggs showed a slight decrease, statistically insignificant, in the group II where the diet was supplemented with the half amount of DL-methionine. The quality of eggs was not influenced. The achieved results show the possibility of replacement of DL-methionine (0.3 g/kg) by choline and sodium sulphate also in cases of the protein-reduced feed mixtures.
