The effect of different nutritive values (10.39 - 11.48 MJ.kg-1) and chemically hydrolyzed wheat in feed mixtures for the Shaver Starcross-288 laying hens were examined. Mixtures contained 34.98 percent of hydrolyzed wheat and were compared to mixtures with untreated wheat. The increase of metabolizable energy did not influence the cholesterol content in the yolks of hens fed by mixtures with untreated wheat. On the contrary, in hens fed with feed mixtures containing treated wheat, the cholesterol content in yolk decreased with increasing nutritive value. The least cholesterol in blood serum and egg yolk was determined in case of the feed mixture with treated wheat and nutritive value 11.48 MJ.kg-1.
