The life cycle of four different Egyptian populations of the corn cyst nematode, Heterodera zeae was studied on Giza 2 corn. Variability in post infection development was found amongst populations. Although penetration of the second stage to corn roots took place at the same time, successive development and durations of the other developmental stages proved to be population dependent. The develomental stages of Belbais population developed faster than those of the other ones, while the developmental stages of both Bahtim and Tanta populations had similar periods for developing. On the other hand, the stages of Giza population required much more time.
