Throughout the experiments were carried out in 1986. N. fertilization increased to a greater extent the number of individuals of members of the families Lema and Nitridae living on cereals, and had only a slight effect on the number of individuals of members of the family Tenthredinidae. No clear relation was recorded between the N fertilization and the number of individuals of the examined predacious insects. The spring application of N proved to be of a greater increasing effect on the number of the examined pests than the autumn application, even in high doses. The maximum effect of N fertilization was recorded for early spring application whereas the late spring application of N /at the time of stem growth and spiking/ proved to be less effective.
