Nadalian, M.G. | Khadjehnasiri, S.
A study was conducted to trace the cows infected by Mycobacterium paratuberculosis (Johne's disease) in dairy herds of Tehran province. Direct examination of stained fecal smears were carried out on 79 suspected diarrheic cows, among which 56.9% were infected. 1042 cows from various infected herds were examined by single intradermal johnin test. They did not show any positive reaction. From 1739 cows also tested serologically by C.F.T., 7.8% demonstrated positive reactions. Samples of feces from the latter cows also directly examined microscopically, 46.5% had fecal shedding (Johne's bacillus), in fact they were nonclinical carriers. From 1829 cows the double intradermal avian and mammalian tuberculin tests were carried out, 20 cows reacted positively to avian tuberculin and 65% of which excreted the Johne's bacillus in the feces, 45% reacted positively to C.F.T.
