[Study of Djadjroud river pollution and its role on the water quality]

Khorasani, N. | Pooryadegar, V.
To study the effects of the pollution on Djadjroud river and its effect on the water quality, nine sample stations on different locations along the river were selected. Sample data was collected during two periods of high and low water level. Two different experimental methods, water testing and the study of benthic organisms were used. According to the results, although domestic, agricultural, and animal husbandry sewages, as well as Djadjroud fishery sewage, have the effect of lowering the quality of the water with regard to different usages especially recreation, they do not cause extensive damage to the natural system and ecological balance. The reason for this seems to be the special condition of the river and different factors such as its steep shore and rocky bed have impact on dissolving oxygen density, making it higher than the saturated density in many places of the river. The sewages of the projects No.1 and No.2 of Parcheen industries, with a volume of about 2000 m3 per second and very high BoD, are discharged in a short distance of the river and are a serious danger for its pollution level. But, the Parcheen industries are located almost at the end of the river and a major part is located above the discharge point and is immune from the danger. It is good that pollution level has not reached to the hopeless point, but it is a pity that the pollution is constantly increasing
