[Some biological features of Heliothis peltigera Schiff on safflower]
1990
Parvin, A.
Based on three years' studies on biology of Heliothis peltigera in Tehran province, it was clear that this insect pest of safflower has 3 generations annually. First generation moth begins to emerge in early April and flying in July. Adult female lays its eggs singly (one by one) on the leaves of the host plant (safflower). Hatching starts after 3-5 days. Neonate larvae feed on leaves and capsules of safflower. It takes 3-8 weeks until the larvae of the last generation become complete. Fully grown larvae enter into the soil and pass the winter in pupal stage
