The mushroom spawn evaluation is possible in three aspects: biological properties, physicochemical features and microbiological purity. The presence of plant protecting agents in the substrate and vegetation cover inhibited the growth of the spawn. The physicochemical properties which characterize the changes taking place in the spawn well were the following: polarographic value of diffusion current, alcohol content, general acidity, active acidity. The microbiological purity conditioned the maintenance of the spawn on a high vitality level and the good yield-providing properties
