On the basis of measurements of single plants, the dependence of plant yield on selected quantitative traits was determined. The grain number and weight per plant appeared to be the most variable traits while the least variable were the spike length and the harvest index. Heritability coefficients were high for all the tested traits. The phenotype correlations showed that plant height, tillering, spikelet number per spike, fertility and the harvest index had a significant influence on the plant grain yield. The performed multiple regression analysis of the grain weight per plant in relation to the remaining characteristics showed that this trait was significantly affected by the plant tillering, spikelet number per spike and the 1000 - grain weight in the both years of experiments
