The report highlights the activities of the national bean programme during the year 1989. The major activities included the release of three cultivars i.e G13671, White Haricot and Rubona 5to the farmers, hybridization for common bacterial blight and Ascochyta resistance, bean variety evaluation on-station with farmers' participation and investigation of both chemical and cultural control of Common bacterial blight and Ascochyta. Researchers were also involved in several workshops organized nationaly and internationally on bean research.
