Results of experimental investigations into germinability of Serbian spruce seeds in different habitats and microhabitats in the nature preserve Tara (Serbia, Yugoslavia) indicate that the Serbian spruce seed germinates poorly and that seedlings deteriorate rapidly in the first year. The greatest number of germinated seeds and survived seedlings has been found on hillock in the peat bog (clearing). The results indicate that the Serbian spruce seeds and seedlings are very susceptible to many ecological, abiotic and bitic environmental conditions.
