On the farm Sorsko polje (Slovenia, Yugoslavia) the continuous grazing system was adapted to limited pasture area. A herd of 96 high producing dairy cows (out of 198 Holstein Friesian cattle) grazed from 15.4 up to 28.8.1986 continually in the stocking density of 10,6 LU/ha on the same cultivated grassland area, from 29.8 up to 30.11.1986 the stocking density was 6.4 LU/ha. Once weekly the cows grazed on a reserve grazing-place (3 ha). In addition to pasture the cows were fed hay (2 kg - 4 kg), maize silage (5 kg - 8 kg) and concentrate (0,14 kg per kg milk). The rest of the cattle in the herd were grazed according to classical continuous grazing system on natural grassland (27 ha). The average milk production on the farm was 6.760 kg milk per cow and was for 1.000 kg higher than in 1985.
