Phenotypic variability of milk production traits in the Black and White cattle population related to the Holstein-Friesian genes content

Effect of introducing Holstein-Friesian genes in the European Black and White cattle population on the first lactation productive traits was investigated. The analysis was carried out on the sample of 554 cows which were born and reared in the Belgrade Agriculture Combine (PKB). The whole range of Holstein-Friesian genes was from 20 to 80 %, classified in the six groups (10 % of HF genes between each group). The data were processed by the method of analysis of variance. Differences between groups were not significant for duration of lactation and milk fat content. Increasing of HF genes in the genotype of cows resulted in higher level of milk, milk fat and 4 % fat corrected milk amount, including whole and standard (305 days) lactations.
