Alfalfa variety, NS BAnat ZMS II was investigated. The results obtained by investigating the content of lignine and cellulose, in respect of the development stages, showed variations towards the increase of content in these components parallel with their development. The content of total lipids showed a tendency to decrease gradually according to the stages of development, ranging from 21.15% to 19.72%. The quantitative ratio proteins: cellulose in some stages of development with the variety, NS Banat ZMS II was, 1:1.02 in the budding phase, 1:1.14 in the beginning of flowering and 1:1.22 in full flowering. Continual decrease of the content of nucleic acids, particularly prominent in ribonucleic acids, was also established.
