Fixed effects, important for the choice of the BLUP model

In Slovenia (Yugoslavia) the evaluation of breeding values of bulls for milk production is carried out by the BLUP (Best Linear Unbiased Prediction) method. The authors try to eliminate different fixed effects. The meaning of these eliminations is examined on the brown breed bulls. The results show that properties of milk production are mostly under the influence of herd production. Effects of calving intervals, age of calving, region and the genetic group are also noticed.
