Grain yield and some yield components in various wheat genotypes grown at different stand densities

Eight genetically different, high-yield wheat varieties (Nizija, Partizanka, NS - Rana-2, Yugoslavia, Macvanka-2, Zitnica, Zvezda and Zelengora) in 4 sowing densities (200, 400, 600 and 800 seeds/m ) were investigated. The following was investigated: the number of overwintered plants perm , the number of spikes per m , productive tillereing, 100-seed mass, hectoliter mass and grain yield. The results obtained indicate thet sowing density is a factor which exerts an influence on the investigated properties and that there are no significant differences in the number of plants per m within the variants of the same density. The highest coefficient of productive tillering was achieved with sowing of 200 seeds/m with all varieties, resulting in a slight difference in the number of spikes per m between the investigated sowing densities but not between the varieties. The number of spikes per m was more influenced by the sowing density than by differences among varieties. The increase of the sowing density (from 200 to 800 seeds/m ) resulted in the grain yield increase . The increase was significant to the level between 400 and 600 seeds/m .
