Study of wood qualities of black pine (Pinus nigra Arn.)
1988
Soskic, B. (Sumarski fakultet, Beograd (Yugoslavia))
In the article the results of the study of variation of black pine wood density are given. For that purpose three test trees were felled and on each of them three test logs were taken at different heights for analysis. The results of this investigation of black pine wood density moves from 10-23%. This coefficient is 12.67% for sapwood and 21.59% for heartwood. The biggest variation coefficient is found in the lower part of the stem, while going to the stem top it becomes smaller. The investigation has also proved that the variation coefficient of pine wood density does not grow with the increase of the number of felled trees. That means that distribution of wood density on one pine tree is equal to the variation of wood density on two or three trees, which is important for planning the experiment.
