The aim of the search was to establish the relationships between age of gilts at first service with life production of sows and economy of piglet production. A sample of 2857 gilts of Swedish Landrace, Large White, Duroc, German landrace and Line 12 were taken into consideration. The sows were divided in five groups regarding the age at first service. The research has shown that there are statistically significant differences among breeds in age of gilts at first service, in composition of production period and sows' life production. The gilts' age at first service is connected with sows' life production. The growing age of gilts at first service shortens productive phases and extends the unproductive ones as well as it reduces life production (number of litters and liveborn piglets per sow). The number of feeding days per liveborn piglet is increased with the growing age of gilts at first service, and the economy of piglet production becomes worse.
