A study was carried out on the performance of 14 fruit species over a ten-year period on the saline soils of the solonetz type solonetz type having the horizon B2 of low permeability at the depth of 30-57 cm with 42.6 meq/l Na and 14.5 meq/l SO4 in the saturated extract with pH 7.85 - 9.45 and ground water at about 210 cm. Peach, mahaleb, Prunus padus, red and black currant, raspberry and quince could not be grown on this soil, whereas hazel and dog rose (Rosa canina) showed a partial salt tolerance.
