Plant spacing as the factor in production of tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum L.)

Two year research of the plant spacing influence on the tomato production by direct sowing, has proved that by increasing the crop density the yield of ripe tomato fruits has been increased too. The biggest yield performed by the biggest crop density was obtained by the variety Kampbell 44,69 t/ha, and the smallest yield, performed by the smallest crop density of only 19,86 t/ha. By variety Merit the biggest yield was 74,39 t/ha, the smallest 36,09 t/ha. By the variety Harvister the biggest yield was 86,02 t/ha and the smallest only 50,09 t/ha. This variety was the most productive. All the three varieties acclimatized to the agroecological conditions of South Metohija, (Yugoslavia).
