Diallel crossings, excluding reciprocal, of 6 genetically divergent pea genotypes were carried out in order to obtain data about the modes of inheritance, effects of genes and combining abilities, number of pods per plant, number of grains per pod and mass of grains per plant in F1 and F2 generations. All the investigated properties showed significant differences among mean values of parents. For all the investigated properties highly significant variances of general and special combining abilities were determined (variances of general combining abilities being predominant). Therefore, properties were under the influence of additive and non-additive gene action.
