This paper describes the general characteristics of the development of plantations of forest trees in Mlaka, Slovenia (Yugoslavia): the size of basic plantations, the silvicultural technics and the wood-volume development of these plantations. The following species were observed: green pine-tree, spruce-tree, douglas fir, black alder, larch. The reality of the expected wood increments on tree plantations, on abandoned agricultural land, is also estimated. Potential areas for purpose-oriented wood production outside the forest are presented.
