Inside a two-year experiment (1985-1986) degradation dynamics, washing out and penetration of propargite into the fruits of Golden and Red Delicious apples have been studied. The largest propargite content was established in the peel of both varieties in both experimental years. However, the level of residues was much higher in 1986 at the time of the end of the pre-harvest interval in both apple varieties, than in 1985. A higher day temperature means and the elevated evaporation capacity prevailing in 1985 have made the level of propargite lower in the whole fruit, the whole washed fruit and in the peel, in contrast to the year 1986 with lower mean temperatures after the acaricide has been applied. In the whole fruits the level of propargite has met the requirements of maximum permissible amounts already a day after the application, except for Golden delicious in the year 1986 when the level of propargite was above permissible limits by only 6.5%. The pulp contained very small amounts of propargite suggesting and almost negligible peneration of the compound into the fruit . The differences in propargite content between two varieties showed that the compound is better retained by Golden Delicious variety.
