Studies on major diseases of chickpea, mungbean and wheat and induction of resistance through mutagenesis

Forty six winter mungbean strains including advanced and promising induced mutants (M(7)) of MB-55 and MB-56, and nine summer mungbean strains were evaluated for their resistance to cercospora leaf spot (Cercospora cruenta) and mungbean yellow mosaic virus (yellow mosaic virus) under natural epiphytotic condition during 1987-88 cropping season. Among the winter mungbean mutants and strains thirty seven were moderately resistant to (cercospora leaf spot and only one mutant was moderately resistant to) yellow mosaic virus. Only three summer mungbean stains were moderately resistant to cercospora leaf spot.
