Physio-morphological characteristics of five cultivars of mango were studied. Fazli and Aswina were the earliest (27.1.86) and latest (4.2.86) respectively in respect of flower initiation. Flowering duration of the cultivars ranged from 18 (Khirsapat) to 15 days (Aswina). Gopalbhog and Aswina were early and late cultivar respectively in respect of harvesting time. Gopalbhog and the maximum number of panicles per shoot, whereas the maximum number of main branches per panicle was recorded in Fazli. Khirsapat and Aswina had the longest panicles. The fruits of Gopalbhog had maximum (11 days) keeping quality and those of Khirsapat, minimum (8.6 days). Fruit weight of the cultivars varied from 208.0 to 654.44 g. Greatest fruit weight (654.44 g) was observed in Fazli which had the greatest pulp weight (499.33 g) too. The maximum percentage (22.63) of total soluble solid content was recorded in Gopalbhog. Fazli had the largest fruit and stone. The maximum percentage (77.82) of edible portion was recorded in Aswina in Aswina and the minimum (59.13%) in Gopalbhog. All the fruits were sweet.
