Effect of nitrogen and potassium on sunflower on saline and nonsaline soils [in Bangladesh]
1989
Ray, S.K. | Nafziger, E.D.
Sunflower as an oilcrop was tested in the field under rainfed conditions in both saline and nonsaline soils of Feni and Noakhali districts of Bangladesh. In addition, effect of nitrogen and potassium on seed yield and other plant characters were tested. Sunflower performed well in both the soils although yield in saline soils were decreased by 11-28% of the control. Both nitrogen and potassium increased seed yield linearly. Saline soils decreased plant height by about 9-15%. Potassium improved the number of filled seeds and 1000 seed weight in all the sites but the effect was not significant in one of the two saline sites.
