[Survey of Prunus Necrotic Ringspot Virus and Prune Dwarf Virus in cherry (Prunus avium L.) orchards and nursery of the Nuble province]
1991
Millet M, Ignacio Javier
A survey of Prunus Necrotic Ringspot Virus (PNRSV) and Prune Dwarf Viruses (PDV) was conducted during the months of September and October 1990 in four years old sweet cherry orchards and one commercial nursery, located in the province of Nuble, Chile. Leaf samples were collected from six orchards in the areas of Huape, Chillan, Quillon, Puerto Couanco and the Agricultural Experiment Station of the Universidad de Concepcion. The leaves were taken to the Virology Laboratory of the University of Concepcion, and tested for PNRSV and PDV infection by DAS-ELISA and mechanical inoculation of Chenopodium quinoa and Cucumis sativus cv National Pickling. 71% and 32.4% of the 68 cherry trees sampled tested positive for PNRSV and PDV, respectively. The results indicate that there is a high incidence of PNRSV and PDV in the province of Nuble, where the virus is widely distributed both in orchards and in the nursery tested
