Effect of plastic mulching on tobacco cultivation

The soil moisture (0-30 cm) in tobacco field could be raised from 19.76-25.70% with plastic mulching in April and May and the soil temperature (0-10 cm) could be increased by 2.7 centigrade. The content of available minerals could also be more or less. The seedling survival rate was increased by 53.0% when transplanted in early spring. The plants were stout and vigorous with early development and the harvest span was extended
