Effect of selenium portioning on the vitamin and some more important microelement content of ewes' blood serum

The permasel pellet preparation containing 5 o/o elementary selenium and 95 o/o vehicle /iron powder/ was given to the ewes with a special pincer. The Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Se, Zn, vitamin-A and E content of the ewes' blood serum was determined bimonthly. The success of the permasel use is proved by the fact that 0.294 ml/l selenium appeared in the blood serum after four months following the portioning of the individuals in the group that, while consuming small selenium containing feeds, was supplied with permasel. No correlation between the selenium content of blood serum and the other examined microelement content was found. There was likewise no correlation between the selenium portioning the vitamin A content of the blood serum. In the experimental group, on the contrary, the vitamin E content increased in the blood serum.
