A survey on Bukidnon lake fisheries [Philippines] was conducted from May to July 1990. Pulangi Lake had 205 fishermen and 187 units of non-motorized fishing boats; Pinamaloy lake, 21 fishermen and 21 fishing boats; and Lake Apo, 11 fishermen and 5 fishing boats. Gill net of various mesh sites and "banatans" was the most commonly used fishing gear. Estimated annual fish and shellfish production in Pulangi Lake was 390.4 MT which valued at P50,160.00; and Lake Apo, 1.1 MT which valued at P13,200.00. The catch composition included both the endemic and introduced species. The high production in Pulangi Lake was related to its higher primary productivity. Its physico-chemical and biological parameters were within ranges suitable for fish culture. Except for Lake Apo, the two other lakes were expected to yield more fish than the present estimated production.
