Philrice R and D [Research and Development] programs aim at developing profitable, environmentally safe, stable and sustainable integrated pest control practices based on ecology, biological, cultural, and judicious chemical control as well as the use of plant resistance. The R and D is carried out in at least three phases: technology generation, development of individual control for each pest species, and the integrated pest management system. Projects of various agencies funded by Philrice are discussed.
