Zoobenthic communities in an artificially aerated lake Mutek [artificial destratification]. 3. Taxonomic composition

Most pronounced taxonomic differences were observed in the littoral zone of lake Mutek with the lowest variability in 1982 at the most shallow station, and in 1983 in the deepest part. Number of Oligochaeta species in the shallow littoral decreased gradually in consecutive years of aeration. In the sublitoral, changes of the taxonomic composition were very small. Number of Chironomidae and Oligochaeta species in the shallow littoral decreased in the profundal zone in consecutive years of aeration. Moreover, Chironomidae species characterized by higher requirements as to oxygen conditions appeared in this zone: Tanypus kraatzi (K) and Cladopelma viridula (Fabr.) Lack of Mollusca was discussed as well as the effect of periodic lowering of water level on the taxonomic composition of the litoral fauna. Attention was given to more differentiated taxonomic composition of the profundal zoobenthos after improvement of the physico-chemical conditions in the lake
