On farm verification trial of upland rice-based cropping pattern at Claveria, Misamis Oriental [Philippines]
1988
Angeles, A.J. | Gaid, B.P.
Cropping pattern trials were conducted in two different landscape positions in the upland environment in Misamis Oriental [Philippines]. These were laid out in four replications across four farmers' fields at the start, and increased to six replications during the 1987-88 cropping season. The three cropping patterns tested were: 1) Corn - Corn + Peanut, 2) Upland Rice - Corn + Peanut, and 3) Ipil-Ipil/Madre de Cacao + (Upland Rice - Corn). For Corn - Corn + Peanut marginal benefit weight ratio MBCR of 2.18 was obtained in CY 1983-84; 2.11 in CY 1984-85; 3.27 in CY 1985-86; 9.41 in CY 1986-87 and the first crop of 1987-88 gave an MBCR of 5.17. Upland Rice - Corn + Peanut resulted a very low MBCR of 0.83 in 1983-84 but yielded an attractive MBCR in the succeeding years i.e., 10.61 in 1984-85, for the first crop only. The second failed due to drought. During the 1985-86 CY, this pattern gave an MBCR of 5.39; 10.87 in CY 1986-87, and the first crop of 1987-88 an MBCR of 5.15.
