All tested slow released fertilizers irrespective of the kind of carrier and degree of nitrogen solubility caused only slight increment of salt concentration but did not affect its pH. The results of chemical analysis showed that slow released fertilizers on brown coal carrier applied at the rates of 500 and 1000 kg N/ha caused the higher amount of NO3-N in soil during the first three years but lower in the fourth year after fertilization if compared to optimum dose of ammonium nitrate. Using low peat as the carrier was accompanied by lower content of this nutrient in the first year but similar as in the treatments supplied by fertilizers on brown coal carrier in the other years
