The results of 9 year investigations on the effect of crop rotations and mineral fertilization on the yields of crops are presented. The results prove that on the soil of black earth type developed from light sandy loam in the arable layer of a medium content of nutrients and slightly acid pH value high yields of annual and perennial crops can be obtained. The effect of crop rotations on the yield of three subsequent test plants (winter wheat, Triticale and spring barley) has not been proved statistically. Only Triticale in the crop rotations composed of leguminous crops showed a tendency to higher yielding. It responded also positively to increased mineral fertilization. The increased rates of mineral fertilizers led to a significant N content increase in the winter wheat and Triticale grain
