Addition of brown coal to very light soil improves its fertility by increasing of sorptive capacity, increasing of field water capacity, increasing of easily obtained nutrient content in soil and changing of soil reaction into weak acid one. Very slow, almost unnoticed decomposition of the brown coal in the soil is an important advantage of its use for soil quality improvement. It makes the improvement permanent. Further research should explain worthwhileness of agromelioration of very light soil with the brown coal
