Four tropical grasses: Andropogon gayanus; Panicum maximum; Brachiaria sp. 299498; and Brachiaria decumbens were grown on three different soil types at the Stipris Farm of Coebiti. Yields on the sandy soil were at all times lower than yields of grasses grown on sandy loam and sandy clay loam soil types. No difference in yield was found between the loamy soil types for three grasses. Three grasses indicated sharply reduced yields during the dry season. B. decumbens, indicated higher yields during the dry season. Crude protein was much lower for all grasses on sandy soil type. No difference in crude protein was found between grasses grown on loamy sites.
