Analysis of the demand for meat

The demand for beef, pork and chicken particularly, the implications in the price level to quantities demanded was examined. The analysis was done by using the Rotterdam Model which was used to test restrictions derived from utility theory. The test showed that symmetry and homogeneity conditions are satisfied when imposed separately, but symmetry failed to hold when the restrictions were imposed together. The results showed that beef is superior while pork is normally good in both models, however chicken was inferior in the unrestricted model but became normal in the restricted model
