Microclimate changes and productivity in corn and groundnut intercropping
1987
Samret Arjinkit
Level of 90 cm. height and 30 cm. height (compared with 150 cm. height) in intercropped corn plots were higher than in sole corn plots. The temperature ratio (except at the level of 30 cm. height), relative humidity ratio and soil moisture content had the same results as transmission ratio. The result also showed that the transmission ratio was decreased as the plant grew. The intercropped corn had higher stem, more ear height and more LAI when the planting rates were increased, but the day of flowering (both tasselling and silking) was delayed. About the end of vegetative growth, the intercropped groundnut had higher stem (bunch) than the sole groundnut but had lower LAI. The intercropped corn had ear/plant lower than the sole corn, but 1,000 seeds weight and corn grain yield were higher. The sole groundnut yielded higher grain than intercropped groundnut.
