Farmers' utilization of soil amendments to increase rice yield in acid sulfate soil areas
1987
Kukiat Soitong
For improving the acid sulfate soil, most of the farmers used rock phosphate because it was distributed to them by the governmental agencies free of charge. The rate of rock phosphate utilization was 75-100 kg/rai by sowing after ploughing and harrowing. They also used chemical fertilizer (16-20-0) twice with the rock phosphate by applying not more than 20 kg/rai. The problems of the rock phosphate application were its dust and lake of rock phosphate in the local area. The utilization of marl was used 1,000-2,000 kg/rai by applying before ploughing during summer. They also used chemical fertilizer (16-20-0) twice for not more than 20 kg per rai. The problems of marl application were lack of money to buy marl and transportation carrying it to their field.
