The results obtained in this experiment showed the independence of content N-NO3 and N-NH4 and source of nitrogen in the applied fertilizers. The fertilized tobacco leaves, analyzed during the vegetation period, showed a higher content of both constituents in comparison with unfertilized tobacco. Regarding the manner of fertilizer application, higher content of N-NO3 was obtained in the tobacco leaves from lower stalk position, only where the fertilizers were applied in bands. In the case of N-NH4 content the same results were found, but, with a few exceptions in all the analyzed leaves during the vegetation. During the vegetation period there were some differences in the content of N-HO3 and N-NH4 between cultivars included in this investigation. No influence was found of the source of nitrogen, manner of fertilizer application and cultivars on the content of N-NO3 and N-NH4 in the leaves from middle stalk position analyzed after harvesting and curing ripe tobacco.
