Nutritive value of protein feeds of chrome scrapings from leather industry

On the basis of results obtained for nutritive value of untreated and treated chrome scrapings from leather industry the following conclusions can be drawn: -Feed of chrome scrapings belongs to protein feeds since it contains over 70% crude protein in the sample with normal moisture; -The high content of proline and glycine as well as low content (16-17%) of essential amino acids points to collagenous nature these proteins; -In diets with soybean meal and sunflower meal the feed of chrome scrapings used instead of fish meal produced slightly lower results in broiler weight gain with aproximately the same feed conversion; -The substitution of fish meal with these feeds produced no significant changes in dressing, cutting and deboning percentage, and smell and taste were improved but not in the case when higher levels of untreated chrome scrapings were used; -The presence of chrome in these feeds had no influence on health of broilers and it did not store in liver or muscle tissue of broilers fed these feeds containing chrome scrapings.
